My 5 year old has glue ear. He has had his tonsils and adenoids out and had grommits fitted, almost 2 years ago.
His grommits have now fallen out and a few weeks ago he had an ear infection and perforated ear drum. Since then he has become hard of hearing again, been to the doctors and she said there is fluid in his ear still, but it isnt infected anymore and should drain away... which is fine... however:

He keeps feeling dizzy and he keeps feeling sick at school and has been sent home. On Saturday, he also had 3 nosebleeds but then not since (never had a nosebleed before).

My question is - are these all related? I appreciate the dizziness is, but feeling sick and nosebleeds do concern me. He hasn't actually been sick and apart from the few minutes when he complains of it is actually fine.

Since his nosebleed, his hearing does seem to have improved (not sure if this is a coincidence?) and wanted to hear of anything similar before I look like a paranoid mum going to the doctors again!

Thanks

i'd ask for doc to refer you to ENT consultant again, in my experience the equipment the docs have for looking in middle ears is not as good as consultants/ or they are not as experienced.

my ds grommits came out (and his ears are ok) but the GP couldn't see for sure, consultant was able to confirm and let us know the middle ear was ok.

I think you son needs to see an ENT consultant.

I don't think glue ear should cause dizziness. Glue ear affects the middle ear, not the cochelar (which is in the inner ear). Balance is controlled by the inner ear which should not be affected by glue ear.

I don't think you are being paranoid and its right that you should go to the doctors again.
