V unhappy 11 week old: what could be wrong?

DD has been very unhappy the last 24 hours or so. Yesterday she barely slept, today she seems to want to do nothing but sleep (probably not unconnected!) but is completely unlike herself - crying in a way she never usually does, sounding like she's in pain or discomfort and hard to console. As I say this isn't like her at all.

She hasn't pooed for over 24 hours - could this be causing her discomfort? She's normally at least a one a day dirty nappy girl.

Bit paranoid because she was in SCBU for her first week with renal failure (but her nappies do seem to be wet at the moment which is the main thing I guess we need to check). She doesn't have a temp.

Any ideas? Help? Advice?

It may be the lack of pooing that is causing the problem! Try keeping her upright and rubbing her back, she might have some trapped wind (we 've always found carrying them up and downstairs lots of times in an upright position helps!)
You could try giving her some extra feeds too (if you're breastfeeding, or extra water otherwise)as she's possibly a bit dehydrated.

Ring your health visitor tomorrow if you're still worried.

I know that they go through a feeding frenzy at this age, it can be so hard to tell though.
I would say call NHS direct and get her checked over by a doctor. I'm only saying this because she's so small and unable to tell you what's wrong, not because I think anything's wrong IYSWIM. It's good that she doesn't have a temp but she may be in pain? UTI? so let them check her over.
It's so hard at this age.

Thanks guys. DH has got her calmed down and sleeping so I'm wondering if maybe she's just really really tired? She was ok earlier, smiling away at me, but then suddenly started wailing again at full volume, which is what's so unlike her - she normally has a little grumble when she's tired or hungry rather than going from 0 to 60 in 2 seconds....

Should I try and get a doctor now or wait until tomorrow morning? She doesn't have any of the symptoms that the kidney specialist told us to look out for (no wet nappies, offensive smells, temperatures etc etc) but I don't want to ignore a problem either!

If she's settling then leave it. They all have off days, do call NHS direct if you are worried though. If she's in pain she will sleep but will wake up screaming so this is one to keep an eye on.
