Ring NHS Direct. I have no idea about the symptoms (I am a new mum!) but I've found NHS Direct to be very useful in the past.

We are so lucky to have such services available to us, they are there for exactly this kind of thing, give them a bell!

Gotta go to bed now, but just wanted to say good luck, hope your DD gets better soon, and you don't have to wait too long for the call.

i had this with mine in the past a few times. To be honest it soundslike a cold. The sinuses get congested and the gunk starts to come out of her tear ducts. The best way to clean it out is with a peice of cotton wool dipped in cool boiled water, or you can also use cold black tea which is very effective and astringent. DOnt forget to wipe from the outside to the inside 0f the eye to avoid spreading the infection into the eye.

you didn't say what her temperature is. If it is below 39 degrees i would give her some paracetamol and let her sleep. Make an appointment to take her to the doctor if you can, but dont panic. The only thing you need to check is that it is not a bacterial eye infetion as that would require some antibiotics. It is probably just a virus and will have to run its course, but see the doc for your own peace of mind.

I know its not nice when they are sick...mine is currently lying on the sofa with a sore ear and tonsils like golf balls....we are going to the doctor too later on.
