Does anyone know how/where I can get immunity testing for ds2 please?

I've just spoken to the practice nurse to ask whether they will offer a blood test to ds2 to determine his immune status re measles.

The answer was no, because they aren't allowed to talk about single vaccines apparently, as they're not licensed and discussing them might infer some kind of recommendation?

So anyway, it looks like we will have to go private just to get a blood test and thence decide about which single jabs to give.

I wondered if anyone knew where I could take him to have this done please - I understand it might cost a bit but don't want him to have the MMR.

I'm a bit cross that the government doesn't offer the single jabs (even at a small cost to the parent) as I would have thought uptake was the most important thing, and if people are willing to give their children the single ones surely that is a good thing - better than no immunisation at all? arghh.

I ought to add that apart from disliking the MMR as it stands, I am worried about two things: immunising against measles if he's already had it (tests by the HPA were 'inconclusive' at 10mo as I was still bfing) and also he has been under the ehalth visitor for assessment as I have had concerns re autism, and I don't want to risk it because of the suggested link - however much it's been decried by the govt.

He is 20mo now btw.

Thankyou for your help

The Breakspear clinic often comes recommended. They do immunity testing as well as singles vaccines.

Where abouts are you located?

This clinic is in Kent, you could call them about immunity testing. There are lots of places in London, the Jabs site lists lots of clinics that offer singles, I'm sure you'll be able to find something appropriate.
