undescended testicles - second operation!

Hello

My ds had an operation to bring down his testicle last April. However, the testicle has not descended and we were told to 'watch and wait' for it to come down since the op. The consultant has said that he will have to have the operation again this April.
Has anyone had experience of this?
I am upset that the first operation seems not to have worked. The consultant said this was rare.
