Nose bleeds in 2.5 year old.

Ds had a nose bleed for about 40 mnts on saturday night passing huge clots. We took him to a&e and it stopped eventually and they cleaned him up, looked at him for an hour and sent him back.

I didn't clean his nose after that. We put some olive oil in last night when he slept and that seemed to clean it up a bit.

This afternoon I wiped it (only outside of the nostril very gently) and it still sparked off a fresh lot. He fell asleep during all this and now he's got a big clot blocking one nostril almost completely and it's drying up there. I am scared to touch it because it'll start off again - but have to clean too.

What can I do about it?
Any ideas please?

Anybody?
TIA

Vaseline? Can't find any, though. I think I'm going to put some more olive oil.

I don't know, but be careful. I used to have nose bleeds all throughout my childhood and had to deal with a lot of adults who would do the wrong thing. Most would get me to put my head between my legs, which was almost guaranteed to make me feint. The best thing to do is lie down, head back pinch nose. It may be something he suffers from, I grew out of it by puberty and fingers crossed none of my dc's have them.

my ds gets random nose bleeds too, i just wash the outside of the nose and his face (and clothes and everything he comes in contact with), will he go in the shower? i sometimes put ds in the shower and that washes it away with out me putting any pressure on it
