Someone please confirm that red jelly stains poo!

DD2 had MMR yesterday so as a treat she had a big pot of red jelly. This morning her poo was tinged red all through it, please someone tell me it was the jelly and she isn't bleeding.
She is fine otherwise, slept through, feeding well, scarfed full breakfast etc etc

don't know about red jelly - but I've found that other foods certainly colourd DS3's nappy (ie a chocolate mousse turns his poo very brown).........

I have to write on my calender when DD@s have blueberries as it freaks DH out to see blue poo!
She did have some beetroot crisps too, could that have done it?

Beetroot does very strange things to poo and wee (MIL once panicked!) It is probably that - your crisps. I wouldn't panic.

Thanks, was prettysure it was something she had eaten but you never know.
beetroot is devils food so i have no idea what it does, it did turn her hands pink tho....

Beetroot is well known for sending everything pinky/red.

My mil gleefully tells me that dh's wee turned red because he was addicted to beetroot as a child.

of your first "you left the polystyrene packaging from something you bought in reach of your DC" poo - think poo with snow

Or your first guesss who ate some starburst with the wrappers still on poo .Clear evidence to present to dp after he swore she hadn't had any at MILS .

When I was 5 I hid behind the sofa and scoffed a huge jar of pickled beetroots. My wee was red for days. My older sister told me that I was dying and I should give her all my piggy bank money before I karked it. I believed her. Hate beetroots now.

I once did a Christmas cake with dark blue icing and gold stars on it. The boys ate some and had bright green poo the day after. A couple of years later I made a space rocket cake - white rocket on dark blue background - for a birthday, and the next day all three told me gleefully that they were doing 'Christmas cake poos' again!

LOL

even funnier, sunnygirl, because I read your post as you "did a POO with dark blue icing and gold stars on it"

I'm sorry, "beetroot crisps"????????

If you bought poncified red jelly it might even have been coloured with beetroot. So a double helping of red poo dye!

trixymalixy · 21/11/2008 14:56

definitely does stain poo red. we had a major panic when ds had red jelly for the first time!

Lol!
Thanks tho, Wasn't poncy jelly, was rowntrees finest!

And my mum bought a pack of vegetable crisps from Aldi when she was here, parnsip, sweet potato, beetroot and carrot. I gave her the beetroot ones as they were nasty looking, even DD1 wouldn't eat them.

I have witnessed playing card poo (the 4 of clubs, if you are interested), purple plasticine poo and have had glitter poo, slightly worrying when the only glitter in the hbouse is in the form of glitter glue.....

Chirpygirl - you will now have to boil your hands for 20 minutes and finish off with bleach.

It's the only way
