yes. A day of rest might have headed it off. And she might be infecting others.
The tummy thing - if its a bug makes me go . My dd is very vunerable and if people send their kids to school sick she ends up in hospital.

Depends how old. If she's in Reception and POSSIBLY year 1, especially if she's young for her year, then possibly (not a bad mum, of course, but maybe you could have kept her off)

Any older, and absolutely not.

Sorry - I thought you meant just a sore tummy. If she's actually been sick or had diaorhoea then you need to keep her off for at least 24 hours.

its 48 hours after the last vomit or diarrhea.
And there's nothing wrong will letting a child under the weather have a day off. My boys get the odd day off when they are tired.

she's had a funny thing with her "no 2s"...she says she feels like someone punches her in the bum just before she has one!?! think that's ok now..touch wood...but she's got black shadows under her eyes and she says she feels tired and doesn't feel like doing anything....having said that, she did go swimming yesterday..never really know whether to keep her off or not. i know that the teachers always say to bring them in and if there is a problem they will contact me anyway.

You're not a bad mum. Don't be ridiculous! If she feels increasingly unwell they can call you and she can come home. I don;t take a day off because I'm a but under the weather and lethargic - neither do my kids.

I regularly send mine off with sniffiness and cold. They are hardly ever 'ill''. Today However, I have succombed and am letting ds2 have a day off as he says he has a bad tummy ache and he does seem listness, though no other symptoms. And the sun has just come out and I wanted to go to allotment and it is my day off

Ds1 would have taken entire winters off school at one time if I'd kept him off for the reasons you mention.

what me mention or the OP?
Ifd it is me, I should add that ds2 is rarely ill and deosn't complain usually. ds1 however, all ailments are taken with ea liberal pinch of salt as he hates school...

Yes. My dd was looking like that the other day and i gave her a days rest and she was right as rain.. you are only storing up trouble for later.

It's the weather for nasty coughs and chest infections I'd definitely err on the side of caution. Giver her some fish oil too and some vit c to help keep bugs at bay.

I would trust your instincts and they are telling you that you would be making the wrong decision, so dont do it.

It can sometimes be difficult to know whether they are ill enough for a day off or not. Sickness bug, yes definately. If mine are just a bit under the weather i will dose them up with Ibuprofen and trust that the teacher will ring me if too ill to cope with school. I know myself when I am ill I often feel better once I am up and about and presume kids can be the same.

I think if you're not sure then they should go to school. I don't think it's good to learn that if you're a little bit under the weather you have a day off - it's not a good lesson for life in my opinion.
