Should I make a complaint?

Hi all, sorry, a bit of a long one here:
my toddler has suffered with his tonsils since a baby. I finally managed to get an NHS referal and (after numerous calls and emails) managed to see an NHS consultant after a 4 month wait. Mt husband and I felt he was totally dismissive of our concerns. He wouldn't listen to an audio recording we had of our son's sleep apnea and didn't even look in his mouth at the tonsils! I had to ask him to look and because my son didn't open his mouth immediately he didn't bother. He wasn't even going to feel the tonsils but I insisted. We were just told to come back in 3 months time.

ALL this left us very upset and frustrated and we felt we had no option but see a private consultant. Our son had his tonsils out 3 days ago through private route and the surgeon told us that in 20 years of operating he had never seen such large tonsils and that they were actually flat from where they had been pressed together so much during sleep (which account for the sleep apnea!). I have been left really angry by all this as I feel we were dismissed & made to feel like we were just making a fuss and now have found out it really was a serious case. DO I have grounds for a complaint? should I bother?

I would contact the consultant and set out your complaint directly to them & copy whoever handles complaints at the hospital. Absolutely. Not to gain anything out of it, but to make sure they see there are consequences - for themselves as well as their patients, for being so unprofessional and incompetent.

Definitely complain, it's the only way things improve. Your experience was terrible.
