Night Cough - Inhalers

Hi, so today the GP prescribed DS an inhaler as his night coughing has become really bad. It's only been for a few nights but pretty much constantly for 3hrs after about 11pm and intermittent during the day. He is 4yrs. It's a blue inhaler with a spacer. Are these easy enough to use ? He just said to use it tonight if he starts coughing again later on and to give him a couple of puffs?

Thanks for any advice!

It's very easy to use but does take a child a bit to get used to it. May be too late now but tomorrow let him play with then mask bit. Trying to use it when they are already stressed from coughing will not be great but is doable.

There are some good tips on inhaler use here www.asthma.org.uk/advice/inhalers-medicines-treatments/using-inhalers/

Thanks rainingchocolate . DS suffered from croup quite a lot as a baby and my feelings are this is what it's like now he's older rather than croup if that makes sense!

the mask/spacer is very easy to use.
if dc is able to understand a little the better. show him what you are expecting from him on the teddy or yourself.
good luck!
