Cellulitis

My DD 10 has been admitted with cellulitis to her leg from suspected bite. She has oral antibiotics for 3 days prior to coming in but that didn't help it's been getting worse. She's now on IV antibiotics & even in the few hours she's been in hospital it has continued to get worse. Has anyone had experience of this? They are talking about getting surgeons involved if it doesn't settle in 48 hrs or so as there maybe an abscess there

Anyone?? We've had 5 days in hospital of double dose IV antibiotics which subsided it. Now been discharged on oral antibiotics but it's flared again. How long should this take to clear?

If it's flaring back up, ask for a rapid readmission as the oral AB's obviously aren't clearing it.

Cellulitis can be very bad, my friend nearly lost her arm to it after an animal bite. It took nearly 2 weeks of IV AB's to clear it completely.

Oh how worrying for you...would go back asap. Also get liposomal vit c for internal and hypercal ointment for external.
