Quite apart from how she could be so bloody stupid, we have had to come to hospital to have her checked out. I had to bang on the door for about five minutes before anyone buzzed us in. No sign of any staff and people already here waiting. She says she feels fine but obviously I want someone to have a look at her. Hospital looks like a ghost town. Told on 111 not to give her a drink or make her sick. No idea if it will get stuck or pass through. I could actually wring her neck.

Blush

See, if my DC was well (not in pain, not vomiting etc) after this, I'd wait it out at home…
I am a lazy bad parent. And I know A+E far too well from the inside.

Hope you get seen and home quickly Thanks

Oh heck! I think the older they get the more daft they are (certainly it's true in our house). Hope you get seen and it passes through soon.

We've had this happen twice

The first time DS was xrayed as he swallowed a few. The second, they didn't as they said as long as it's passed the oesophagus then it was fine. Might need some Vaseline on the exit

Any change yet? 😅😅😅

We've been there and got the T-shirt too. DS was in pain so we not only had an xray, showing it to be stuck, we then had an ambulance transfer to another hospital where they had the kit to remove it.
The movement of the ambulance actually shifted it en route saving him the procedure.
He was fine, it came out naturally and we had a few days of comedians asking us if there was any change yet...
Apparently he'd been "lying in bed playing heads or tails above his face" Hmm

A school friend did this. She was fine and it came out the other end. The weirdest part of the story is that her parents decided to clean up the coin and frame it.... Confused

I can remember finding my first ever tooth fairy money under my pillow, being really please and very deliberately deciding that the bast way forward would be to eat it ConfusedBlushShock
It was 3x10pence and I swallowed one after the other.

Weird child, me. Not sure that's changed much but I have not eaten coins lately.

They reemerged a few days later, but were not framed Grin

Blush I've swallowed a penny at the age of 9 so many years ago! My dm took me to the doctors who said she needed to check my output (poo! Blush) for 4-5 days and if it didn't come out then I would need to have X-rays. Anyway it 'appeared' about 3 days later nice and shiny!!!

Oh my god you lot. Grin Well that's made me feel better. She's not the only daft child! Definitely no change yet. Still waiting for the doctor. He didn't appear until someone got up and banged on his door. Now seeing the person two appointments ahead of us. Dd and I are both knackered.

JoMalones a few? Oh god.

When your PFB swallows a coin, you take them to A&E, they are X-rayed, checked over, and eventually the doctor tells you that they'll be fine, just check their poo for the next week.

When dc2 swallows a coin, you keep an eye on them for a while and check their poo when you remember.

When dc3 swallows a coin, you dock it from their future pocket money.

(Told to me when my own dc3 swallowed a piece of Playmobil. I'm not sure I'd have found it as funny had it been my own PFB!)

Very true life

A pound coin would go un noticed here apart from a few "wth" thrown in - as long as they looked and appeared fine.

I'm ex ambo so probably a little more lax than most. I'll never forget the 999 call where the lo had fallen whilst running around the garden with a fork and salad box and the fork impalled the corner of lo's outer eye skin And was still there:
"Shall I give him some calpol and pull it out?" Said grandma.... Nooooooooooo

One of dd's friends did this a while ago, he was 7. I swear his dad said they used their metal detector to check it was passing through them . I don't think they went to A&E because it was xmas eve or something.

I'm seriously hoping the doc doesn't send us up to the big hospital for an X-ray, it's about twenty miles away.

DF swallowed an old penny as a kid (he was born during the war, so I believe the pennies were a fair bit larger than our current ones) and it passed through in a couple of days. No idea why he did it but I think he kept it (yuck).
Hope you and you DD are ok and that you get seen soon.

I thought the first doctor would just say it's fine, wait for it to pass. X-ray tomorrow at the outside. Can't believe we're sitting here in a&e. It smells of nappies. Dd is reading a Star Wars book. I have a headache.
