Hello if you live in UK it is hay fever season, I have it and find myself blinking and sneezing non stop it really irritates the eyes although we can still see.. His eyes don't have to be streaming tears or bright red. Try going to the GP as they can give you a prescription for him. Or it could be a temporary habit as my little brother use to do it for about 4 months and said he couldn't stop, then one day he woke up and stopped doing it, very strange but not uncommon. Hope this helps x

My daughter did this for a couple of months. Wasn't hay fever season, just something she did. She grew out of it. Just a phase. I was, however, worried sick that she'd do it forever.

plus the more I made reference to it, the more she did it. Try to pretend it's not happening.

Yep, my son had a phase of doing this for a couple of months when he was about 3. Wasn't hayfever. He also went through a sniffing (no cold) phase. Seems to have grown out of it all now. We didn't make a big thing of it.

Hayfever may be a good call though.

This started when my daughter was also two, she is 6 now and still gets this from time to time. She has had many eye tests and we paid to see a private specialist.

It is a tic, coincides with a big developmental phase or times of stress (house move, new baby etc) most children experience this in their early years.

However see a gp just to put your mind at ease

My dd did this round about this age. It was a discovery phase where she'd worked out that 'she could turn the lights off with her eyes'.

😂 that made me laugh little monkeys arent they . i think it is some sort of tic /twitch he did get a quite bit sand threw in both eyes last Sunday and rubbed it in screamed for ages i managed to wash it out and they were sore for a couple hours so im wondering if there is a little injury or dryness that is causing him to sqweeze shut he's eyes after blinking but with it been last Sunday and it started just Friday gone only done it for 3 days 4 tomrow xx

Dd went through a phase of this when she was two. You've actually just reminded me. She's 3 now and hasn't done it for a long time.

It was a bad habit she had gotten into. Drove me and Dh nuts

My ds did this for a few weeks when he was just 2. It was a phase in the end. I looked online a lot but it didn't bring up anything sinister.

Hi, Ds1 started with excessive blinking at 2, it was hay fever. The optician said little ones don't rub their eyes like adults do.

Doctor gave some drops and he stopped blinking virtually straight away.

He is 6 now and still suffers with hay fever at this time of year.
