threadworms??? What symptoms did your child have?

My DS, 2.8, has constantly had his hands in his nappy for weeks. I don't believe he is actually scratching, and his bottom looks completely normal to me (not inflamed or red or anything). So far, I've put this down to being "just a phase...".

Dr. Google (I know...) suggests that it could be threadworms. If your child has had those, what were the symptoms? Did their bottom look any different?

Itchy bottom at bedtime. That is the only symptom my two show.

Complaining of itchy bottom around 6-7pm, and sometimes 10pm. Bum hole not red. Sometimes I've been able to see the little bastards, sometimes not. DC have been quite distressed with it, crying, saying their bum really itches. Only in the evening, which is apparently when they come out of the bum and secrete the itchy stuff. Is your DS upset about it?

Sadly I speak as the voice of much experience....

Hands in nappy front or back?

Boys find their todgers early on but if he's at his backside then just treat (and the rest of the house) for threadworms.

Hands in the back I'm afraid! When in the bath, he likes to have a good pull and tog on his front bits too...

He doesn't actually complain of itchiness, and we have asked him. He sleeps well, too and is not upset over it. When we ask him to pull his hand out of his nappy, he wants to high five us Shock

Anyway, will make appointment with the docs just to make sure!
