Abdominal pain in 12yo boy

Wondering if anyone had any ideas, please?

Yesterday my 12yo started complaining of abdominal pain. It started with him being doubled up and saying he really needed to wee and it hurt his bladder. But going for a wee didn't relieve the pain, even tho before he went he felt it would.

He spent the early afternoon curled up in bed feeling v sore and sorry for himself.

I popped to the GPs assuming it was a UTI. The nurse tested a sample and said it was clear and so we booked a GP appointment for later that day.

He said it was a little improved over the two hours before Dr appointment, but still sore.

Had the Dr appointment. She said she was sure it wasn't a UTI, but thought it could either be the beginnings of appendicitis or inflammation of the colon. He was very sore when she was examining him.

She said his pulse was slightly high but he didn't have a temperature. He has been off his food since yesterday lunchtime. He hasn't vomited.

She said the pain was in the right place for appendicitis- slightly worse on the right. But she said if it was, it would get a lot worse fairly quickly- she was talking about the O.O.H services so i assume she meant overnight.

She said if it were an inflammation of the colon it would rectify itself shortly with painkillers and would be better by tomorrow (i.e. today).

The pain seems much worse if he is upright and/or moving. It seems best if he is lying down.

He still doesn't have a temp. But is pale and looks "off" iyswim. He is quite tearful. Not himself at all. He said he was up in the night and did a large bowel movement which was v painful. It didn't provide any relief. (bowel movements have previously been normal so i don't think its consitpation etc) He was doubled up and struggling to walk upright without severe pain.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I would have assumed if it was appendicitis it would have got a lot worse overnight and therefore the fact that it hasn't is conclusive that it isn't that. But the pain hasn't got any better so I am not sure about inflamed colon either..

Poor thing! How is the pain now? If he is still struggling to walk upright without pain that can be a sign of appendicitis, so that, coupled with severe pain, would have me thinking about A&E. Also did the GP take a urine sample to test properly (not just a dip test?)

My appendix burst on Christmas Day OP and until the day itself I had definitely not been doubled up in agony. I had had stomach ache of varying degrees throughout December. I didn't have a raised temperature.

Pain worse when upright or moving (I think ice skating on Christmas Eve finished it off).

I would see a doctor today.

Oh, and I only vomited on Christmas Day itself.

Poor lad, I hope he gets a diagnosis/some relief somehow today.
