On Tuesday 9yo ds appeared to sprain his wrist (I wasn't there, only saw him a couple of hours later). His hand, wrist and fingers looked fine, and he could wiggle his fingers, but any movement whatsoever was painful. I bandaged his wrist (psychological - you know how s plaster cures everything!) until bedtime and he felt better.

But in the night he woke crying in pain and I had to bandage it again. Similarly last night, except that he woke a second time in the small hours saying that the bandage was too tight and I took it off. This morning his hand looks slightly swollen and slightly darker than his other hand. The bandage was not too tight, I know how to bandage safely and to check for circulation.

Should I worry? A sprain usually get progressively better. I'm considering Minor Injuries after school today...

Get it x rayed today, a sign of a fracture is swelling and pain that doesn't ease. Why mess around the quicker you know the better.

I had a broken wrist for two weeks before my Mum took me to the GP. She felt very guilty. I would get it X-rayed.

Is broken. Fortunately not a bad break. Thanks for reassuring me that I wasn't being precious about ds.
