DD Constalty has painful, red labia

My DD (8) has had frequent issues with her vulva for the last two years. It is getting out of control and I need some advice.

At least once a month, DD will complain that her foo (sorry Blush) hurts. When I look, the entire area is red and looks very painful. The redness goes from her anus, her labia, her clitoris and just above. It looks awful and causes her a considerable amount of pain.

I have spoken to her openly about sexual health and she has admitted that she "tickles her foo" because it feels nice. I have tried to make her aware that, while that is absolutely fine, she must make sure her hands are clean.

Either she is not washing her hands properly or there is something else going on. Has anyone else ever experienced something similar?

Thanks so much for any advice you can offer.

Yes my dd. I think it's because she doesn't wipe well enough after a wee and wears tights to school. I wipe her vulva with wet cotyon wool every other night-the whole area gets very red and sore otherwise.

Take her to the GP it sounds infected.

We have taken her to the doctor in the past and the doctor could not find any signs of infection.

It does almost look like diaper rash and bathing and sudocream usually do help. I wonder if it's not necessarily hygiene and more to do with wiping?

Maybe we need to increase how frequently she bathes. She has a shower every two or three days (has very sensitive skin). Maybe we need to stick to ever other day without fail and have a wash before bed on the days she doesn't bathe.

Thrush? Dd had this and it was very sore and red. She got it from using lots of perfumed stuff in her baths.

Although yes, my Dds is not that sore. Have you tried putting some metanium on it? I'd go and make sure it's not thrush or anything at dr.

That interesting, Titsy. I hadn't thought of thrush. She doesn't use perfumed bath products though. She still uses baby body wash because of her sensitive skin.

Threadworms ??

My DD had them a few times & this was always the main symptom, as she was very sensitive to the slime they leave when they come out to lay eggs, she would get very, very sore & it took us a little while to work it out the first time.

I agree metanium cream is the best barrier cream & will help too

My niece had this at your dds age. The gp said it was a hormonal imbalance no infection and it cleared up by itself. Her younger sister had the same thing and she too grew out of it. Strange one

Thank you so much for all the replies. I'll see how she is in the morning. If it's not any better, I'll get her in to the doctor.
