Small red patch and then pimple on toddlers nose

A few weeks ago my toddler came up with a small red patch near the tip of his nose. It stayed for about a week, came to a red pimple without a head and then slowly disappeared, so lasting about 1.5 weeks in total.

The next week the same thing happened on the other side.

Now my 9 month old has just woken up with the same.

I have constantly washed toddler hands, tried fucidin once or twice a day on his nose, used separate flannels which I change daily, constantly tell him not to touch his nose, and kept his face away from the baby. I went and asked the pharmacist and he said I just needed to put sudocrem on (hasn't done much).

What could this be? I'm thinking staph infection? I have been watching and waiting on toddlers nose as it has been a small area both times, and it seemed too trivial for the doctors, but I am thinking of going now, would they think I was wasting their time?

I may be missing something but why do you think this may be anything other than a spot? Kids do get random spots.

Sorry yes I can see why you might think that and I have omitted a few crucial details Blush

The red patch that came up first was sore, inflammed and angry looking, and spread a little. It was like that for about a week at least before it disipated into a spot and the one he had a few weeks before never turned into a spot at all, it just slowly got better.

Pharmacist said skin infection too so he didnt seem to think just a spot.

Ok, with you now but don't know the answer. Maybe carry on with what you are doing and go to the GP if it spreads or reoccurs? IME GPs have been fairly hopeless in diagnosing skin complaints though.
