Tonsillitis- how long is it contagious?

DS came down with temperature on Sunday night. Was still no better yesterday so took him to GP & tonsillitis diagnosed. Said there were lots of white spots & thinks it's bacterial so prescribed antibiotics. DS is much better today- eating and playing. Temperature this morning was still high,38.5, but lower than has been. Does anyone know when it's deemed non contagious? Tried NHS 111 but couldn't get any kind of answer out of them & have been waiting for call back from GP. Due to go to christening tomorrow- are we safe if his temperature has gone?

Question answered by GP. Said once temperature down and he's well in himself he can be out and about.
