Is it thrush or just milk residue? He doesn't seem to be in any discomfort and I can't see any patches on the rest of his mouth.
What I've read only talks about a milk residue for ff babies, but he's nearly ebf with the very occasional bottle - approx 1 per fortnight or less Confused

Actually, have just had a good look in his mouth and parts of his gums do look whitish but it looks more like that's the natural colour of them, iyswim - it's not the same 'fluffy' kind of texture as the white on his tongue. Also my nipples are unaffected...

Mine had thrush without nipples being infected Gp gave medicine for DC and cream for me to apply to nipples. It could also be a sign of tongue tie - so get gp to check at the same time.

My bf DS's mouth had paleish smooth patches at the top at the back of his gums and milk residue on his tongue after feeding even after his tongue tie was clipped. I wondered about thrust too but when I looked up pictures of mouth thrush it was really furry and unlike what he had. He still does have milk residue on his tongue after feeds and he's 20mo now.

Was he bf Jingly?
Why can it be a sign of tongue tie? How bizarre! He does sometimes become unlatched and feeds quite slowly so have wondered about slight tongue tie...

I didn't know it could be a sign of tongue tie until Newquay said it! I'm not sure, he did still get it after the clip, but he's my only DC so I don't have a lot of experience!

For the tongue tie, my DS couldn't stick his tongue out at all and couldn't latch but we had to get a lactation consultant to come out to see us to get it diagnosed, my HV kept insisting it wasn't a tongue tie Angry but there was nearly an immediate improvement after it was clipped.

There's a great poster on infant feeding who's a breastfeeding advisor, I'm pretty sure its tictok, it might be worth getting this thread moved to there or starting another one there to ask for advice?

I took him to have it looked at and the hv said it's definitely just milk residue. Phew!
Thanks all Smile
