dd hurt her foot yesterday, she kicked the ground instead of a football, it instantly swelled up and bruised so we took her to childrens A&E for an xray. No breaks. She has been to school this morning but I have just collected her as she was in too much pain. Anyway she is now saying the foot is numb. Is this likely to be just beacuase of the bruising. nhs sympton checker says A&E but since we only went yesterday seems a bit drastcic. They said a consultant wiilll look at the xrays today and they will call if he spots anything they didnt see right away.
Her big tos is buddy strapped to the next toe and she has a pad on the bottom of her foot to help with walking although she cant weight bear on it anyway. The whole foot is blue (bruised blue).

You need to take her back to A&E if her foot is so swollen that it is numb.

we went back to A&E, saw the same nurse as yesterday which was funny. It's fine (well not fine), definatly not broken, it is the swelling that is pressing on the nerves causing the numbness and pins and needles. The doctor talked me through testing it regularly for sensation and capillary refill. Glad we went back.
