Smelly ear after ear infection

DD has had an ear infection. All checked out by GP and ok... But her ear smells AWFUL.

GP was told about the smell and said its normal. But didn't say how long we can expect the smell to go on for (and we didn't ask, stupidly).

Any ideas ow long oh wise Mumsnetters? And is there anything we can do to rid of it? I'm worried she's going to be teased at school.
