blood in urine

Dd, aged 5, started wetting the bed a couple of months ago after being dry for 3 years. She was then diagnosed with urine infections throughout December as she was feverish at night for weeks and she was treated with 3 lots of antibiotics due to blood and infection each time her urine was dipped but the bacteria never cultured so I am now told it was not urine infection.

She was finally ended up in hospital over xmas and was diagnosed with bacterial tonsillitis after seeing about 5 GPs first. It has cleared up with penicillin.

However whilst she is no longer feverish she is still not herself and still wetting the bed and having stomach pains. I took her back to GP and urine still has blood when dipped but they said her throat is fine. They gave her some ointment in case it is thrush.

Any ideas what I should be doing/asking to be checked? Should I be going private or wait for follow up paediatrician appointment which may be 2 months as I have no date?

Sometimes bacterial and viral infections can leaves trace amounts of bleeding in internal epithelial membranes which line the gut, kidneys, etc for quite a long time.

It is a residue of the immune response.

I suspect the stomach pain is part of this too but it does sound odd and worrying.

Is it large amounts of blood or tiny trace amounts?

I think it is just trace - when they dip her urine there is a colour change on the dip stick according to the GP - it is not something I see in the urine.

However she had blood in her urine for almost 4 weeks before they diagnosed the bacterial tonsillitis so I am left confused as to whether she had something else or if the tonsillitis caused the blood and infection in the urine but was missed for 4 weeks.
