Mole on daughters arm

My daughter is 5 and I noticed a small mole on her arm a few days ago, she has been referred to the dermatologist next week. I'm really worried as my dad died of skin cancer at 30. As anybody had any experience of moles on their children/. Thanks

Many children have moles. Most appear after birth, over time. If it doesn't itch, bleed or looks strange (irregular shape, colour variation) it will in all likelihood be fine. Good to have it checked though and they may decide to remove (part of) it to have it examined.

Moles are normal for many children and adults and they appear over time. It's good to be checked but remember your experience with your dad is extremely rare so you will understandably be hypervigilant but the odds are overwhelmingly in favour of it being entirely normal.

My daughter has mole on her leg and I was worried about that at her childhood. But after suggestion of our family doctor I am not worried at all and my grand mother said this is called good luck for people who has moles on their body.

Thanks for your comments, it just seems to have appeared and is 2 different shades of brown. It is only 3mm in size and isn't growing but I am taking photographs everyday and it appears to be changing in appearance. Just hope it's not serious, I'm very worried x

Your doctor won't need to see pictures of it day by day, that really is your anixety talking.

You've done the right thing and have an appointment, you don't need to do anything else now.
