Dd was grumpy with a temp yesterday, seems better in herself but has these spots. Does it look like chicken pox?

Could well be. Especially if there was a temperature yesterday. Tomorrow will tell though; I wouldn't expect to send DD to nursery/school. Hope she's ok.

There are now about 20 of them on her legs! Not working tomorrow so nursery not a problem. Just don't know if I need to keep her away from cousins etc

Oh and she doesn't seem to have noticed so that's something I suppose. No temp today

If they haven't had it, yes keep them away from her. She will be infectious as long as new spots are forming and there are ones which haven't scabbed over.

She hasn't got that many more this morning but some do look blister like. Not sure if this pic is any better

How is your little one today? Was it Chickenpox? I have been told that my 14 month old is to expect it as she was with her older cousins at the weekend (who now have it). Apparently they are most infectious before the spots actually appear? I just wondered how to tell if it's coming on (appart from spots!) and how long I need to keep her away from other children? I have also been told that the younger the child the more mild the condition but would imagine this is more to do with the indiviual child than age? Anyone able to advise?

They are contagious for 1-2 days before the spots appear. There is a 10-21 day incubation period though so it could ba a while before you know. I would continue as normal for the moment until she shows signs of illness
