Strange patch of skin on my baby-any advice?

Hi, my 10 month old has a patch of skin on the lower right side of her back that is rough to the touch. It isn't red and doesn't bother her, the patch has streaks like stretch marks (slightly lighter than her usual skin tone ) but unlike stretch marks these streaks are ever so slightly raised. I am sure this wasn't there when she was born but has definately been there the last few months and seems to be growing with her. I have used various aqueous creams to try and resolve the problem but the area isn't that dry really so they have had no effect. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

It's possible that it might be some kind of non-pigmented birthmark? Some birthmarks can appear within a few months after birth. Equally it might well be something else altogether! I'd probably show it to your GP next time you happen to be here.
