19mo bump to the head now sleepy and vomiting

Hello

DD had a bump at around 12.30pm today, cried instantly and was laughing and back to her normal self within 5 mins, she had her normal lunchtime nap then woke up and played in the garden all afternoon.
Since coming inside at around 4pm she has been very quiet and just sat or lay on the sofa.
At 5.30 she was sick, and has been sick several times since and is now asleep
She has no temperature

I'm struggling to decide if it's the bump she had as she was quite happily playing for 4 hours since the incident, or has a sickness bug?

You need to take her to A&E and get her checked out!

I used to work in children's A&E and we were always concerned if they vomited more than once after a bump.

Please get her seen asap.

A&e. Vomiting and/or sleepiness within 24hours is bad. Call ambulance if you don't have car. Please. Right now.

A&E. Now. DS hit his head a few years ago. Massive egg lump on head though was OK. We phoned NHS direct and they said he'll fine unless he throws up and gets sleepy. Luckily he didn't and wasn't. Please go. ASAP.

Agree - A&E now

Sleepyness and vomiting are signs of concussion you need to look for for 24 hours after a bump to the head, so the fact that she was fine for 4 hours is irrelevant. She needs to go to A&E.

So sorry to leave you all hanging on!

Once I had written it down and read it back to myself I just got straight in the car and off to a&e

They are doing a CT scan, they tried earlier with her awake as she is very drowsy but she got really upset, so we've just been brought up into the ward and she is being sedated and then having a CT scan within the next hour or so Hmm

Oh well done for going in. If they are doing a scan they are taking it seriously so you did absolutely the right thing. My nephew was just kept for observation overnight.

Good luck. It's probably a concussion and just needs careful monitoring. Thanks for updating.

I thought "A&E now when I saw the thread title". So glad you took her but sorry the poor little love is poorly. Flowers How was the scan?

Thanks all, we got the results back from the CT scan around 1am and all is clear, no bleeds or fractures Smile

She had a brilliant nights sleep, obviously the sedation helped!
She has been sick again this morning and I asleep again now so they are just keeping an eye on her over the next couple of hours but should be going home later

Phew, were home!

She's been very sleepy all day so kept her in longer than they said they would just to make sure she was ok, but she had some lunch and started drinking again so we were discharged

Just want to say thank you all so much Thanks looking back I can't believe I even doubted taking her to a&e
