15 Year Old - Worrying Symptoms...

My daughter is 15, she has had an eating disorder that she is recovering well from. Today she has slept all day, and has just got up (10 pm) as weak from lack of food but is complaining of nausea. She has a lump on one side of her neck, is complaining about extreme fatigue, severe lower back pain and a bad headache. She has recently been complaining of hip and knee pain. Her headaches have been on and off for some time which I put down to the bloody mobile phone (she has had eyes tested, they are fine). Obviously GP a.m. as a matter of urgency but am now concerned that this could be something horrific like lymphoma. She is not a "complainer" and keeps saying "it's probably just virus", she did have tonsillitis recently but that cleared quickly. I have given her plain crisps and Lucozade to drink as she doesn't "fancy" anything else. Any ideas?!

I don't have any medical knowledge, but try not to worry. Could the pains be related to being in bed all day? I am not underestimating how unwell your daughter feels, but try not to see the worst possible scenario. the lump in her neck could be a swollen gland after the tonsillitis and your daughter is still recovering, hence the fatigue. I hope the doctor is helpful and reassuring tomorrow. Let us know how you get on.

lucsnowe Thank you for responding, I am sure you're right, I am prone to overreacting at the moment with other stresses in my life. She seems a little better now with some sugar and salt inside her and a strong painkiller for the headache. Will be ringing GP a.m. though as concerned about painless one sided lump and pain in joints and this extreme exhaustion..not normal for a 15 year old. Will of course let you know how we get on. Thank you :-)

Hope she is ok, fingers crossed shes much better.

My first ( completely parental not medical) thought is a virus.

Sounds like glandular fever to me. Hope you get it sorted.

Hi everybody, thank you, she's a little better today and is going to have bloods done. Still complaining of headache and back pain and the lump is still there but she has this afternoon gone to visit her Grandma with her Dad for two days so hoping she'll have plenty of rest there. Hoping just a virus but will feel less anxious after blood work. Thank you so much, you've all been lovely, will let you know how we get on :-)
