Gut instinct says no but its not my kid so am fretting slightly more than if my child.

One of dd's friends has fallen in our garden and cut the back of her head. Right in the hair so can't steri strip it. It's about an inch long, about 2mm deep and gaping about 2-3mm.

Bit of blood, but has stopped bleeding. I've washed it and put antiseptic on it. Child says it doesn't hurt, she doesn't have a headache, doesn't feel sick, didnt loose consciousness. She says she doesn't feel she needs a Dr. She's 13 and probably thinks I'm fussing.

She's staying here all night.

You shd speak to her parents and get them to collect her now. Iut's probably fine, but just in case.

Treat her exactly as you would your DD, but inform her parents now, just to let them know - that would be my advice.

My DS had a similar size cut on his head and ended up getting it glued at A&E, but he was only 3yo at the time.

She sounds ok but call her parents and let them decide. If I was her mother I would come and have a look to reassure everyone.

It's not bad I guess. I just told the girl it could have been a four hour wait. Suppose it may be yet. Seats are uncomfortable.

Just been through this with ds. Doc said we were right to bring him in because of the infection risk. They cleaned it up nicely with saline, got all the blood out of his hair and glued the wound. Lucky boy gets out of having his hair washed for a week.

No, I know. It's fine, am just slightly grumpy as I have a slipped disc. I'm a big fan of the NHS, they pay my wages for one thing!

Can't believe the number of people spinning a line to the receptionist to try and get seen quicker. Amazing how many people are starting work in an hour or need to get home to look after a disabled relative.

Ouch, re. head and re. slipped disc. Lay on the floor and do your back exercises. That'll get you seen quicker than any imaginary disabled relative!

You will be glad you took her - even though it a PITA. The reassurance it has been dealt with by professionals means you can never look back and say "I wish I had". If your DC you could deal with that - with someone else's . Hope she is OK/seen/fixed soon - and that your disc is not too painful.
