dd1's foot is very sore and a bit swollen, on the bone bit right at the side of the foot, she says she has been in pain all day since it happened and that the chair leg landed on her foot and stayed there for 4minutes (probably about 20 secs then). She can flex and bend in every direction but it hurts to weight bear. currently sat on the sofa with frozen peas and tv after calpol. doesnt want to play out with her friends and couldnt eat her chocolate. So what injury could she have and what should I do about it, I think it is probably a bruise but dont want to be dismissive (plus bruises really flipping hurt in the worng place.)

I'd stick some arnica cream on it and get her to take some orally too (tablets, not the cream!). DS plays rugby and gets knocked about a bit, he swears by the magical properties of arnica.

If she couldn't eat her chocolate, she must be in a lot of pain. It might be worth getting it checked out too.

Hope she recovers quickly.

ooh, do you not want to get her looked at in A and E or walk-in centre? I would. Sounds painful!

She could have broken one or more of the wee bones in her foot. I'd see how it is later and take her to a&e if its still really sore.

My first reaction is always to get it looked at, which I am still considering, I gave her calpol and an ice pack and decided to see if she wants to play with her friends in half an hour which would answer my question. she does want to play with her friends but has not moved from the sofa, she is saying it really hurts but when I press is saying ow but not with any real conviction. I am not sure, dont worry I will get it looked at if it does feel better in the next half an hour.

Definitely get her foot checked, in case she's broken something. Even if she hasn't, she might have over-stretched a ligament, trying to twist free, or be badly bruised.

well she decided that she would go and play and I have just hidden behind the curtain and watched her run down the flippin road.

absolutly amazing the healing qualities of getting ignored on the sofa rather than playing with your friends.
