Gosh sorry for not replying sooner.
Biocare sell a great acidophilus. Just the normal one in capsule form and just open it up on to his breakfast.

At 19 months he shouldn't need formula as he should be eating full meals. Try him on goats milk / oat milk instead.

Bio care probiotic or ABC acidophilus should be able to get from local health food shop.

And where will I get a dairy free probiotic from?

Really appreciate the helpful advice. Thank you.

What about his formula milk? He only has it at night before bed but he was upset tonight when I didn't give it him and I fear will now be up cause he's so hungry.

and definitely get a good probiotic (one that needs storing in the fridge as a supplement rather than those sugary drinks like yakult etc.

Yep - the bug will have damaged his gut lining. Really recommend you remove dairy and wheat until he's sorted and then slowly reintroduce starting with natural yoghurt, hard cheeses and then slowly the rest.

poor little mite sad

Drop the toast. Wheat can be aggressive on a damaged stomach. Add carrot juice and probiotics (dairy free suppliment not a yogurt drink) to heal his gut. Hope he settles soon.

DS is 19 months and two weeks ago had a sickness and diarrhoea bug which went on for around 10 days on and off. Since then, at night, he is up for 3-4 hours a night crying with what seemed similar to wind type pains but I now believe to be Reflux (which I've never dealt with with my other children).
Last night he slept for an hour then at 8pm was up until 4am! He was so distressed and couldn't get comfy and was sitting back up in cot every 10-15 mins and was being sick a few times but just bringing up acidy smelling water. A couple of friends suggested it could be reflux and today I have kept him on BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Apple and Toast) as recommended for Reflux on various sites online, and although he's barely eaten now for a fortnight, so has lost weight and is very lethargic, he seems more comfortable. (Fingers Crossed!)

Is it common for Reflux to onset after a sickness bug? Also, how will I really know when it's safe to broaden his diet again? Is he likely to suffer for foreseeable future or just a few days whilst his tummy gets back to normal?

His poo's are now solid and he hasn't properly vomited food up since last Monday but is just really unsettled at night. Seen Docs twice in last week and they have said it will take time but that was really just to do with the sickness bug cause the Reflux, if that's what it is, only really peaked last night.
