Virus - do I need to do anymore?

Since last Wednesday, DD has had no energy, she just wants to lie on to sofa, watch telly and sleep, no interest in going out, playing drawing etc. This is not like her, she normally doesn't stop moving or bouncing. She has a temp, which is coming down with Calpol. No real other aches and pains, but she did complain of a headache this morning. DH took her to the docs yesterday, who said it's a virus and we just have to wait for it to pass. Is there anything else we can do to help? It just feels like she's been ill for such a long time. She's not really eating (1/4 of an apple and one party ring biscuit so far today), and is drinking milk.

How long has she had the temp? If you don't top up the Calpol, what does it go up to?

Temp appeared on Saturday, I was away Mon/Tues, DH said she didn't have a temp then, but I'm not convinced as she has it today. HighestI've seen her temp is 38.8

Ok, this might sound mean...but..
Given a temp in either of my DCs, I keep the Calpol topped up for minimum 24 hours. I check temp the next morning 1/2 hour after waking or getting up and if its up I give another dose. I then deliberately don't give another dose 4 hours later (trying to stretch it to 6) it means on day 2 or 3 they might start to feel very ill again, but it's the only way to keep tabs on it. Otherwise they'd be taking it four hourly for years!

If it starts to creep up to 40, get her looked at...A&E if necessary. Good luck

Well she starting complaining that she had a headache and the light was hurting her eyes, but no worsening temp. She's now asleep, so might ring the doc later if she still has the headache when she wakes up

Bored,

How is she now? I am sure that you know that headache and photophobia (fear of light) are two meningitis symptoms?

I was aware of the meningitis synths, which is why I was panicking. But she's picked up massively this afternoon, the doctor was great, took it really seriously and we have to go back again tomorrow to see if the improvement was real or just due to nurofen

Apparently glands are up, something else I read suggested glandular fever, I just always had thought of it as a teenage thing

My dd2 was off last week with a virus, stomach aches and feeling dizzy no energy, better after 5 days now this week dd1 is ill this time more no energy and dizzy apart from that okay but presume it's same virus manifesting in a slightly different way. Kept her off again today she's just watching telly and reading but eating fairly normally. These virus things can be wierd imo.
