my 10 month old has just bashed her new and only top tooth on the foot rest on a reclining chair. it seems to have been forced back into the gum a good 3mm leaving about 2mm sticking out, there was a bit of blood and a lot of tears but shes calmed down and not in any obvious distress
so now im wondering what wll happen next? will the tooth fall out? will it go back to normal? will this effect the adult tooth?
help!

I think I would be on the phone to my dentist. Can't answer your question but I know if it is knocked out entirely there are things they can do, so some prompt professional advice is what you need I would say. good luck, must have been horrible.

Thanks snow
now i can see it clearer i think most of the blood was from the cut on her gum and that little 'string' of skin thats attatched to your lip and your gum (not sure what its called!) shes snapped it anyway, ill ring the dentist whle shes asleep

It's called a frenulum. Hope your DD is okay.

DD1 knocked a tooth right back into the gum when she was about 2 years old. The dentist told me it would do one of three things: come back down and be absolutely fine; come back down but be discoloured; come back down and fall out. We were lucky and it reappeared several months later in perfect shape.
Hope your little one is okay now and the dentist was able to reassure you.

they said as long as shes not in pain i shouldnt worry too much and just see what happens. fingers crossed!
