Optometrist has recommended Ortho-K lenses for DD1 (7) to arrest her myopia (currently -1 but he thinks she will rapidly head towards -9 like her mother ). He says his teenage patients now have them as a matter of course, and that the main issue is DD1's capacity to understand the importance of lens hygiene etc (she is quite mature, but she's still only 7).
Does anyone else's young child use them? As a long-term contact lens wearer myself the idea fills me with a slight horror but obviously I would like to prevent her facing the risk, inconvenience and sheer expense that extreme short-sightedness like mine entails.
(Will post this in Products as well btw)
