My son has had chicken pox. First spots appeared last Monday and, as far as I am concerned, he is fine now and spots have scabbed. I sent him to the childminder this morning but she refused to take him for the day because she has found a couple of spots on the palm of a hand that have not scabbed. Can he still be infectious? Surely if they are on the palm of a hand (and therefore always moist/not much air gets to them) they may not scab? I know that current guidelines say that children are infectious for 5 days after onset of rash. I have printed this all off to give her tomorrow and she has said that she will take him if I am certain he is not infectious anymore but I am not sure what to do. She says that she is concerned as her husband has never had it. Can anyone advise?....Thank you. x
