My DS had a fall this morning and bashed his top lip and above on the edge of the step. His mouth was pouring with blood and i think his top teeth cut into his lower lip. His top lip and above to his nose are v swollen and underneath his top lip it's all black and some of his gums round his teeth are all bloody too. It looks like his teeth have been pushed back and are slanted backwards iyswim. My mum says it looks like that becuase his top lip is so swollen - what i am most worried about his his black gums - do you think this is just bruising and will go away or should i take him to the dentist or doctor?

I am quite worried about it although he seems fine but can't eat much as it's too sore so he has had calpol for the pain.

thanks in advance for the advise.

I cut by lip and top of my mouth when I decided to swing a car door into it.It bled lots but I was told the mouth area does but also this blood supply makes it quick to heal.
I had to eat soup/mushy food (e.g.cheesy mash) until it healed but I didn't damage my teeth.I would probably go to the dentist as you are worried about his teeth also unless you feel it needs A & E treatment.
