Reflux link with antibiotics?

My DS is 6 months and has reflux which mysteriously is not responding to domperidone or omeprazole. He also seems to be intolerant to cow's milk protein and is on Pepti (having been EBFed until recently). I'm wondering whether the intolerance might be linked to my having taken loads of antibios during pregnancy (pneumonia) and labour (EMCS) and later for mastitis. The docs have evaded this question (perhaps it IS a ridiculous one) but TBH I've learnt it's often best to listen to other mums more than docs. Have other mums of babies with reflux or milk intolerance suspected the same link? I'd be curious to know, even tho i can't do anything about it now and am lucky enough to have an otherwise healthy baby...!

Yes it could be. DS2 pregnancy was really difficult and I was given 5 months of antibiotic to prevent another late miscarriage. DS2 had a terrible reflux and tons of intolerances . But after two hellish years, everything is fine now, and he is now only allergic to penicillin.
I have always believed his reflux was linked to all the medicines I took during his pregnancy.
It will get better.

I was wondering the same myself - both ds's had terrible reflux and I had several courses of antibiotics in first trimester of pregnancy both times.

I personally think there could be a link with reflux and taking antibiotics. Why not try giving your little one some Biocare Banana Acidophilus powder - this can help with digestive problems, after antibiotics, helps boost the immune system - from 6 months. No harm can be done. If you want professional advice then I would contact Biocare directly and ask to speak to one of their Naturopaths. I rate them highly.

Thanks for these comments I'm not necessarily mad then. Ribble, I'll follow your advice re biocare the Solgar probiotics I tried DS on at 10 weeks for thrush seemed to sort that out. And you're right, no harm could be done.
