Dear Mums, our DS of 9 weeks has a hernia in his groin. It was discovered when he was 5 weeks old and he is due to have an operation to repair it on 23rd Nov. Now, we have not seen the hernia for a good few days, it used to pop in and out all of the time ... and we are wondering, could it have repaired itself? We are going to try and get hold of the paediatric surgeon (difficult!) to ask about the likelihood of this, but in the meantime I was thinking ... has anyone heard of these kind of hernias repairing without surgical intervention? Thank you ...

hi,
my ds had an inguinal hernia from 2 weeks and had it operated on at 7 weeks (as emergency). Not 100% sure, but seem to remember it being mentioned that they sometimes do not need surgery (memory faded as DS is now 4.5!). hope this is helpful

Yes ds had one of these and it sorted itself out by the time he was about 3 mths old.
