I am using my iPhone while breastfeeding to read mumsnet primarily..any opinions on whether it is bad for baby's brain? Guessing it's not great what with mobile signal and wifi too. Do I need to wean myself off web surfing? Any thoughts welcome.

I have had my iPhone superglued to my paw since DD's birth 2.5 years ago. Not aware of any particular reason why it's more dangerous than being in the house with wifi etc.

Thanks for that. I'm glad you do it too. Was just worried about it being so near her head ad baby's heads aren't that developed young. Hope haven't damaged her yet

Unlikely to do anything whatsoever - unless you drop it.

Thanks trillian - you sound very certain which is reassuring - are you a techie, a medic or just well read about this kind of thing?

Read plenty on how studies of mobile phone usage show no link to cancer, no reason why your iphone (even on wifi) should be any different.

Ok thanks Trillian - been floating around web and there does seem to be info about mobile and wifi etc but trying not to be too worried although I do think it could be a bit like cigarettes 70 years ago..'nowt wrong with them, even good for you' and our children may face up to the full consequences of them once we are gone.

IMO all research is too recent to prove any long term effects, however, I have read recently - can't recall where though :( - that high intensity electromagnetic field could potentially be LESS damaging than low intensity as the low intensity is more likely to affect delicate low intensity em fields in our cells.
Personally I would like to err on the side of caution, but not easy to get away from it nowadays completely.
