Pampers nappies or a urine infection?!

I've just today noticed a really stong, unpleasant smell from my 16-month-old daughter's wet nappies... My partner says he's noticed it for a little while and thought it was a 'feature' of the new Pampers nappies (i.e. alerting parents to wet nappies) but I'm worried it's really smelly urine and she has a UTI...

Before I make an doctor's appt for my little girl, has anyone else noticed this with these nappies?

Thanks!

I've noticed it with Pampers nappies too. Previously we were using Tesco ones and I never noticed much of a smell with wet nappies in them. However my little one is only a few weeks old so I could be misremembering!

Thanks! Even if she's only peed a tiny bit the smell is really strong (can't believe I've never noticed before...) In fact, today it was strong enough to make her shorts smell (the nappy hadn't leaked - there was barely anything in it) and I had to change them...

I don't want to take her to the doctors unnecessarily, but also don't want to delay making an appointment if something is wrong...

Could you try and "catch" some of the wee? Maybe pop some loo paper in her nappy so you could smell that directly?

I use pampers and only notice a wet type of smell after a couple of hours, nothing particularly strong.

Thanks! I've just found the correct topic ('nappies' would you believe - sorry!) and I've posted it there...
