What age for The Toymakers Daughter by Ursula Moray Williams?

My DD (age 6) has just finished the Little Wooden Horse . . . we have found the sequel (which I'd never heard of) in the library catalogue. The county also has two other books by UMW - the Toymakers Daughter and the Three Toymakers, I was wondering if anyone knew them & what age they are suited to. Don't want to order them if they are going to be scary & spooky (as I think Castle Merlin is?), but they say illustrated by Shirley Hughes, so I am imagining they would be ok for a 6 yo. Anyone know them? Many thanks!

I think I read them at about nine or ten. Probably in the 7-10 age group I would say. I loved them. I wouldn't say they are spooky, but there is the odd scary moment.

Sounds like they'll be fine - scary moments are fine (even the Famous Five have the odd one of them), but full on spooky is a bit much Will order them from the library & see what she thinks.
