Book recommendations needed: Space/Aliens; Travel/World/Holidays; Science

Quite urgently required too. Forgot to sort the major part of my story resources, lol. Been focusing so hard on the structured activities and gathering materials - I need the books by Tuesday!

For the first 3 topics I need suggestions for:

• fiction books (need to be picture books as it is for a brief group reading session - 5/10 minutes max)
  
  
• non fiction books - that we can look at together; even better is you can get it in the large book version
  
  
• other written texts - poemes, plays, comincs, etc.

What Age?
Can You Feel The Force by Richard Hammond

Is very good but probably suitable for older juniors, RH also does other science books including experiments

Professor Branestawm, surely, for mad scientists . . . The Young Puffin versions have shorter stories & lots of pictures

Astrosaurs are good fiction books on a space theme - DS thinks they are great

Infants - Y1/2, mixed groups/

The reading/sharing book session will last abput 10 mins max (if they all arrive on time that is!)

the plenary at the end is 5 minutes and could be a poem, fact sheet, etc.

Tested my experiemnts today. Have done child friednly methods for them to follow (readingfor a purpose : )

Think we are doing one a day:

1. lava lamp - I did it today in a litre bottle but it uses a heck of a lot of oil and although it bubbles nicely it is not very long lasting. Think smaller is better - need to get some baby food jars now what is the oil/water ratio?

1. colours in milk. For some reason the colours didn't mve as fast or effectively today. Did it on paper plates - could this have been why? I used full fat milk. Maybe plate too small?

1. floating paperclip - very simple and worked fine.

outerspace...there is a fab picture book called but martin, also Dr. Xagles books are fab fab fab. Q pootle 5 is also brill...(I think it is my fav. picture book)

I wanted to do the volcano one but need a volcano shape to do it! I don't do papier mache!

1. i think i used approx 3/4 oil 1/4 coloured water, and a quarter of a tablet.

1. not sure what the problem could be, we used full fat milk, might be the paper, could be the colourings, if i remember it correctly one of the ones at dds party did't work link to the website is here milk exp

the candle on os very easy and effective, just need a bowl and a jar and a candle.

Same courings worked fine at home - only difference was I used proper plates.

Might order that kit - mind you concerned by idea it erupts 6 foot in the air - hmm.

haven't used our kits yet so not sure how good they are we have the eyeball and the heart.

not sure how bicarb and vinegar could manage 6 foot though
