DS1 (age 4) has just discovered 'There's a Wocket in my Pocket'. He loves it because he has a real thing for made up words.

DS2 (age 2) loves green eggs and ham - I think it's my favourite too!

The Grinch, probably. At one time, when ds1 was small, I could recite the whole thing without the book as I'd read it so many times. He's 11 now, so a bit big for it - but we still read it on Christmas Eve (along with a wonderful pop-up version of The Night Before Christmas by Robert Sabuda) so it's a part of our Christmas family traditions.

Oh but I also love the Sneetches, and Green Eggs and Ham, and the Sleep Book is marvellous and...oh, I could just list them all

The Cat in the Hat.

I think Dr Seuss is great. DS3 is just 5 and only just learning to read at school - still on simple words although he can sound out anything phonic. His reading books at school have about 5 words per page. But, he was given One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish for his birthday and he carries it around with him everywhere and reads it over and over again (most of it, anyway). It is streets ahead of ORT for interest and stimulation IMO.

Too Many Daves in the Sneetches book is just genius. I can't read it aloud without laughing.

Also liking the Cat in the Hat now I come back to it as an adult. It's amazing that the words and rhyming style are so simple yet he manages to make the cat so charismatic and slightly sinister...

I'm going to have to get 'The Sneetches' then (this was my ulterior motive for the thread - to help me decide which one to get next).

I am always so pleased when dd demands Marvin K Mooney for her bedtime story instead of Topsy and Tim.

I think she knows even at the age of 2 that a 'crunk car' and a 'zike bike' are made up
