Trying to remember an 80's book

I'm trying to remember the title of a book of short stories I used to read when I was a kid. One story was called the bombacle (think that's how it was spelt), another was called Patrick by post. It was quite a big book with lovely illustrations. I've googled loads but can't find it.

It was probably around the late 80's early 90's.

It was one of our favourite books as kids as it had the word discombobulated in it, and we loved using it in day to day convo.

Anyone remember something like this? Would love to track a copy down as a gift for a family member.
