Jolly postman is another fan one!
And completely forgot about hobbit and lotr.
Also forgot chronicles of narnia.
Princess bride another good one, although I didn't read this as a child myself

DS1 (nearly 9) has enjoyed some books I loved as a kid, but mostly read to him, such as Swallows and Amazons, Narnia, Black Beauty, and Over Sea, Under Stone, but I'm not sure he'd have persevered with them on his own. He has, however, read The Hobbit, all the Potters and vast amounts of Roald Dahl off his own bat.

Looking forward to some Joan Aiken here too!
