Fairy tale fun from the creators of The Giant of Jum!

When a kind young boy helps a strange-looking bird, a beautiful friendship forms. But what these two friends don't realise is that one is a young knight...and the other a young dragon! What will they do when they discover they are enemies and destined to FIGHT?

The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight is a bold, funny and heartwarming story from a perfect picture book pairing; the uniquely talented Elli Woollard and award-winning Benji Davies.

Can knights and dragons ever be friends?

Share your child's favourite fairy tale to win one of TEN sets of Elli Woollard books including The Dragon and the Nibblesome Knight, The Giant of Jum and Swashbuckle Lil The Secret Pirate!

My DD Caroline will be 4 years old in two weeks. She doesn't have favourite fairy tale, instead she want me to read her different story every evening, so we need to make sure we have plenty books for her at home. Coupe books she always 'read' and tell me about are Peppa Pig's books. These are quite short and she knows what happens on every page so she can 'read' it for me.

FoxInABox · 09/05/2016 17:49

My 3 year old DS is obsessed with the three little pigs- he has a love/hate relationship with the big bad wolf! He always picks it every week when they bring a story home from school, and loves finishing the line off of 'not by the hairs on my chinny chin chin'.

Alidoll · 09/05/2016 17:50

My daughter (6) has always loved Cinderella and often wants to act out the story [she's Cinders and I'm everyone else lol!]

Firewall · 09/05/2016 17:51

We love fairytales and acting them out and we read them! Anything with the big bad wolf! At first my LO was scared of the big bad wolf until we gave him the 'role' to act out and he was the 'big good wolf'. He now loves the 3 little pigs and little red riding hood! Simple and effective stories!

starlight36 · 09/05/2016 17:56

The Princess and the Pea is my daughter's absolute favourite fairy tale. We have a few different versions in various fairy tale collections and she loves them all. My son's favourite is the Gingerbread Man, probably as he admires his naughtiness in running away!

WowOoo · 09/05/2016 18:00

My youngest has just made me read Dick Whittington to him. He keeps saying he loves it and wants to go off and seek his fortune.

I always liked Rumplestiltskin - my kids find the edition we have too scary!

sjonlegs · 09/05/2016 18:05

This looks really lovely. My daughter is an avid reader. Can I ask what age this book is for thanks? If it's not suitable for her I'm sure she'd read it to her brother (who has profound special needs and just loves the interaction of being read to!)

Blatherskite · 09/05/2016 18:17

We're always reading here and DDs favourite books all have dragons int hem so I think she would love this!

Her favourite fairy tale is the Three Billy Goats Gruff. I think she likes my troll voice Wink

Janhans · 09/05/2016 18:22

My daughter's favourite fairy tale is Rapunzel. She had long blonde hair and would enter every dressing-up competition as Rapunzel. Her 3 daughters also have long blonde hair and Kitty (6 year old twin) wore the really long wig I had bought to school to celebrate the Queens birthday dressed as Rapunzel!

barricade · 09/05/2016 18:26

Our DS loves practically all the classic fairy tales. 'Jack & The Beanstalk' and 'Hansel & Gretal' are probably the current favourites. He really loves the cleverness the main characters employ to get one up on the baddies. (Plus the house made of candy/sweets in Hansel & Gretal is a real plus)

:)

Cerealchanger · 09/05/2016 18:31

I read the 'reverse' fairytale of the three little wolves and the big bad pig before the traditional. The kids always used to look a bit confused at toddler groups if anyone mentioned the three little pigs

BearAusten · 09/05/2016 18:36

I think it would have to be Jack and Beanstalk. We have enjoyed Storytime magazine which has a variety of fairy tales, poems and extracts from longer books in it each month.

carz1985 · 09/05/2016 18:40

My eldes daughters favourite one is the three little pigs but she loves to read all of them. Iv got her come great collections from the works at Christmas which we are working our way through at night. We have so many books as she loves reading so many different ones.my youngest daughters favourite is cinderella (rella as she says) she's only 1.

MrsIB · 09/05/2016 19:13

It is hard to pick my eldest son's favourite fairy tale as he just adores books! He is a big fan of acting out the Three Little Pigs and even puts the voices on! My youngest also seems to be following in his brother's footsteps as he is also a bookworm!! :)

sjonlegs · 09/05/2016 19:20

Forgot to say my DD's favourite fairytale is The Princess and the Pea! That sounds about right to me because she's a lousy sleeper! Rapunzel is right up there too - Tangled has a lot to answer for Grin

StickChildNumberTwo · 09/05/2016 19:29

Cinderella is the endless favourite round here, although anything with a princess tends to be a winner.

jes73 · 09/05/2016 19:38

My Little One's favourite fairy tale is Cinderella made even more popular after watching the film. I think it's my favourite too.

AugustRose · 09/05/2016 19:39

I don't think any of my DC have a favourite fairy tale, they enjoy them all. DD2 (9) is very into writing her own stories at the minute, most of which feature some kind of lost item/kingdom that needs to be found with a bit of peril thrown in. A good fairytale is nothing without the threat of being eaten or a swordfight Grin

Rae1000 · 09/05/2016 19:43

Cinderella without a doubt. Prince Charming hits hard from a young age!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 09/05/2016 19:44

My DD & DS both like Cinderella - a true classic, the perfect fairy tale!
It's the only pantomime we've seen so far so I think that helps to make it the favourite!
I do like it too!

foxessocks · 09/05/2016 19:46

My dd is 2 and she loves the princess and the pea. We got it for her because she absolutely loves eating peas and we thought it would amuse her and it certainly does!

purplepandas · 09/05/2016 19:49

Another Cinderella fan here. Also loves Alice in Wonderland but that's not a fairy tale of course.

My DD2 likes The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and The Wolf and the 7 Little Kids. We have old ladybird versions - the drawing of the troll is actually quite terrifying, and DD finds it awful and compelling in equal measures.

DD1 I think likes Thumbelina, and the Firebird.

Pigeonpea · 09/05/2016 19:53

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

blogmumjd · 09/05/2016 20:03

Son1 always loved The Enormous Turnip best and used to love acting it out
