Hi fellow mums. I am an author and write books for children. We have been trying to spread the word on a project my husband and I are trying to 'Crowdfund' it is proving really hard and with only 8 days to go, we are trying to get some feedback to see why people didn't buy into it. Would you back a crowd funding project? We have books and two toys to as reward, also original artwork etc. What would make you buy into it?

As you know, I've supported your crowd funding project. It's the first one I've done and I think it's a fab way to help a good idea become a reality. Getting a little from a lot should appeal so I'm not sure why it hasn't worked as well as you hoped. I know my girls will be delighted when they receive their books and teddies and I'm glad that some of the money I pledged will go to help out a charity too! Keep going! Your lucking break could be just around the corner.

I guess we naively thought social media was better at spreading the message than it is. Facebook seems to hide posts from most people when they are shared unless you pay to 'boost' them! Which is a bit naughty. Just wanted to see if people understood what Crowd funding was or if it was something they avoided? To be able to supply Books & Toys to the charities would be brilliant. Still hoping we can get there with the funding. Just need a few more big backer....or hundreds of small ones :) 7 Days left to go.

I've heard of crowd funding, I thought it was aimed at getting small but likely to succeed business ideas into production, with perhaps some return for investors. Is that not right?

I don't actively seek out crowd funding websites, and I don't have FB, so I'd only hear of an idea if it hit local/national/international media.

Yes that is what it is. Basically to get lots of people to offer a little and fund the project. We are trying to produce a picture book and toys of the animals in the story. We are published but want to do our first book alone so we can help some children's charities. We don't have the capital to do this, so people can back us and get rewards...books toys..artwork...your child in the story...a story workshop hosted by myself and my hubby Daniel who illustrates the books. Publicising it is really hard, local press are not interested even though we hope to help a local children's hospital ward.
I guess we just don't have the connections, most that make it get into the media or have a famous backer...down in Devon we don't have those connections. Thanks for your reply though :)
If you fancy taking a look you could give us more feedback please :)
Please back us on. We really want to be able to supply the books & toys...help us get there
