Books for preparing a 2 year old for the imminent arrival of a sibling?

He'll be 2y 4m when the newborn arrives. Are there any books that might help him prepare for it? Or am I wishful thinking?!
Thanks in advance :-)

We got Pirate Pete: I'm a New Big Brother for DS1.

Mr Bear's New Baby by Debi Gliori
Rosie's Babies by Martin Waddell (these two are my favourites)
There's a House Inside My Mummy (Giles Andrae - I wasn't so keen on this one, but it might be good in terms of discussing what's happening inside your tummy)
Where Did That Baby Come From by Debi Gliori
My Baby Sister by Emma Chichester Clark

We have There's a House in my Mummy

mineymo · 18/08/2014 18:21

Thank you :-) I shall investigate all of those.

Mortal Kombat??? ;) just kidding but that's how it feels sometimes

Sootgremlin · 18/08/2014 18:34

We had there's a House Inside my Mummy, my ds still asks for that one now and his sister is 7 months!

We also had an Usborne New Baby one, but thought that was better for if you have older kids rather than just one toddler.

Pirate Pete also good.

Fab. Cheers :-) I notice Pirate Pete is well regarded for potty training too, I might be doing a big order!

order from the library free :)

mineymo · 20/08/2014 19:03

I've bought the ones that The Book People have to offer, so Pirate Pete, There's a house in my Mummy and Babies Don't Bite. I'll check the library for the others.
Thanks :-)

Dino baby by sam Lloyd is good fun but not as factual as the others !
We also find house inside mummy good

YawningAndSmiling · 20/08/2014 19:15

There are a few by Rachel fuller that are nice eg www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/1846432766?pc_redir=1408169847&robot_redir=1&tag=mumsnet&ascsubtag=mnforum-21

Plus they are fairly gender neutral ie they never say 'he' or 'she' for baby or toddler, and the books show a variety of ethnicities, and one book shows dad making dinner and letting mum have a sleep Smile

Topsy and Tim and the new baby is a nice one.

My brother and sister had a really nice one when my parents were expecting me - translated from German I think, called 'Please Mummy, buy one for me'. The illustrations are retro-gorgeous and it's a lovely idea - that you could look through a window in Mummy's tummy and see the baby growing. There's also a cute pic of Mummy and Daddy cuddling in bed with an explanation of 'when you are grown up you can make babies yourself'. (DS aged 3 has never asked for further details). I don't know if it's still in print though.

Bit late, but what about:
Zaza's baby brother
There's an ouch in my pouch
The Usborne New Experiences New Baby sticker book (it worked for DD!).
