Willow Chance is a twelve-year-old genius, obsessed with nature and diagnosing medical conditions, who finds it comforting to count by 7s. It has never been easy for her to connect with anyone other than her adoptive parents, but that hasn't kept her from leading a quietly happy life . . . until now. When hit by tragedy Willow has to reach out to new friends and create a new family. This is a beautiful story about love, loss and how unexpected friendships can come about in the darkest of times and help steer the path back to happiness.

I read this book over the Easter weekend and it's lovely. I feel that it's probably a really good book for young teens - they may not question the fact that everyone is so nice in the book as much as I.

It took a bit longer to get through than I expected but was a really enjoyable read. It seems like everyone is writing books with chapters told from different character's point of view but it still flows really well. It's heart wrenching in parts and the resolution seems to run through really quickly. But overall a really good read.

I need to decide who I'll pass this on to - my DC are a bit young for it but I have a couple of nieces who love reading & I think will like this book.

Thank you for this book. I really enjoyed reading it. It is bittersweet and made me cry at least once. The ending is maybe a little unrealistic and the redemptive theme is very strong, but given that it starts with the death of the main characters parents, I was glad this was balanced out. I will definitely encourage DS (nearly 9) to read it as it has more depth than a lot of the books he reads. And I think he will really enjoy all the little facts interspersed throughout the novel.

Counting by 7s is a delightfully quirky novel featuring the intriguing character of 12 year old Willow Chance.

Author Sloan doesn't pull any punches.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and its delightful quirkiness - full review here >> www.mybookcorner.com.au/listings/1091-counting-by-7s
