Dd2 takes it all v seriously. Whole school been given theme of Greek myths and legends for world book day - apparently a sheet and belt is not enough (according to dd). My knowledge of Greek myths theme is limited to "Who put the glad in gladiator? Her - cu - les!" DVD and anyway dd says she can't be Meg because Meg has brown hair and she is white blonde (see what I am up against?) (btw That will only make sense if you have seen the DVD)

She is a tiny little blondie gymnast-type if that helps and I'm a working mum who is out on Thurs night and needs a costume for Friday. Only reason I'm not panicking is I just know mners will be able to help.....
All suggestions welcome

Muses, or Monsters.
Lesser known Goddesses, Iris was goddess of the rainbow.
Lots of exciting female monsters from Medusa to the sphinx to harpies to sirens.

How about Arachne and make some kind of spider costume (all black clothing then some stuffed black tights tied to each side of the waist)

What does she like?
Animals, bright colours, being wicked, facepaints?
Does she like accessorising?

DD1 dressed as Medusa - white tunic, gold belt and giant jelly snakes attached (maybe sewn? can't quite remember) to a hair band.

She likes being different but also being pretty = Medusa looking promising, though have neither tunic, belt or snakes - so don't know why I say that....but also rainbow looks possible??

She LOVES animals - tried to suggest pegasus as we have a hobby horse and fairy wings but she was having none of it (and I thought I was being creative!)

It's tonight or not at all as I'm not home thurs

Thanks and any more suggestions welcome

Think props not costume (which is, of course, white sheet & belt!):

If you have access to some cardboard, the rainbow should be quite easy - size accordingly, and she can paint it.

Owl and shield (cardboard & tinfoil) for Athene?

Some weaving for Penelope?

Ball of twine and 'magic sword' for Ariadne?

Sorry got interrupted by DD. Get her a toy bow and arrow and she could be Artemis?

Demeter might be a good choice if she likes animals. She is the goddess of agriculture essentially. You could give her some flowers and any veg or fruit you have about the house plus any domestic animals (not real obv) she might choose, pig or cow for example.

And an owl and an olive branch. Or a jar of olives.

Short tunic, bow and arrows slung over shoulder, sandals and toy dog for Artemis?

Artemis is also a moon goddess, so a headband with a crescent moon?

black tights/leggings and black t-shirt (easy!) and some weird face paint and she can be one of the 'evils' from Pandora's Box!
